From USA to Germany

Omar Collington was born as the eldest of three children in the US state of South Carolina. The family moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1989 when Omar was six years old.
Omar’s career began at the age of 13, where he decided to turn from the streets and discovered his passion for basketball, this remains to this day.
He played high school basketball for the Decatur Bulldogs, which advanced to the state championship game, during his senior year.

Due to his outstanding academic achievements and athletic talents, he received a scholarship to UNC Asheville in North Carolina in 2002.

After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology, he started his career as a professional for the Bergheim Bandit in 2006. In 2007 he played for the Capone Düsseldorf and from 2008-2010 for the Baskets Lüdenscheid. 2011 was his last year as a professional player in Meckenheim.

Also as a basketball coach Omar coached every team successfully.

Back in the States from 2011 to 2013, he was assistant coach of the Boys Basketball team at Decatur High School in Georgia for one year and the following year Head Coach of the Boys Basketball Team at Renfroe Middle school in Georgia. Both schools Omar attended as a student-athlete in Decatur, Ga.

In 2013 he returned back to Germany as the men’s basketball coach of Deutzer TV. He managed to advance to the 2nd regional league as head coach in the season 2013/14, first time in Deutzer TV history. The following season the team finished 4th place, in 2015/16 they finished 2nd, and in his last season as coach 2016/17, won the 2nd Regional League, and the rights to move into the 1st Regional League.

Moving on to women’s basketball in 2017, he was just as successful with the first ladies team of the Capitol Bascats. From 2017 to 2020, Omar´s team moved from the Landesliga to the Women’s German Bundesliga in only 3 seasons.

His support for children

He gave the starting signal to support and inspire children in 2011 while he was simultaneously a coach at a school in Decatur, USA.
Also in Germany Omar Collington did not give up his dream of supporting children.

He coached the U18 & U20 in Lüdenscheid, the U18 in Cologne, U14 in TUS Opladen and the U16 in Düsseldorf (girls’ team).
For example he supported the social project “Kalk Fördert” which supported children from refugee areas.

Marquita Lashae Waller

Marquita Lashae Waller, also simply called Kita, is 32 years old and originally comes from Gainesville, GA USA.

At the age of 4 she started dribbling the ball and has not let it out of her hands since.

At Gainesville High School, she played on the school basketball team for 4 years.

After graduating high school, Kita received a scholarship to play for Virginia Commenweatlh’s women’s basketball team. Playing on the varsity team as a freshman at that time was a pretty big deal.

At 26, she decided to take the biggest risk of her life. She moved across the Atlantic to a country where she didn’t speak the language and didn’t know anyone. Kita played professionally for the TG Neuss from 2014 – 2017 in the 2nd Ladies Basketball Bundesliga.

She has been with the Düsseldorf-based association Capital Bascats since 2017. As captain of the team, they made it to the 2nd Ladies Basketball Bundesliga in 2019/2020.

With much passion she trains the U-16 for 1 year and the U18 for 2 years.

As a qualified personal trainer and basketball coach, she knows exactly what is important.
